This class is an introduction into the world of glass kiln-casting, working with molds and glass finishing to create a unique and personal piece of art.
You will work with a variety of materials to make impressions and models ready for casting, beginning with the simple “open cast” mold method. You will learn fundamental cold-working skills as well as firing procedures and schedules.
As a participant in this class, you will complete two projects: a bas relief casting and one experimental casting made with different types of glass to illustrate the unique qualities of each form. Simple materials will be used to create different forms, shapes and textures.
No prerequisites. Class runs two Saturdays, approx. 5 hours each day,
March 16 & 23, 2019 with a break for lunch.
